The 3M 6059 (ABEK1) universal gas filter is the most powerful solution in the 6000 line for protection against a wide range of chemical threats. To create a full protective kit, use 3M™ particulate pre-filters (5911, 5925, or 5935). This will protect the person from aerosols and dust while also extending the service life of the main filter.
Installation
Pre-filters are securely fixed to the carbon cartridge using the 3M™ 501 plastic holder.
- Compatible with 3M™ 6000 series half masks (6100, 6200, 6300) and 3M™ 7500 series, as well as 3M™ full face masks (6800, FF-402)
- The manufacturer recommends using this gas filter with 3M™ 5911 (P1), 3M™ 5925 (P2), or 3M™ 5935 (P3) pre-filters depending on work conditions
- The main task of the particulate pre-filter is to protect the person from harmful aerosols. Another task of the pre-filter is to extend the service life of the gas filter until its resource is exhausted
- Pre-filters are attached to the gas filter using the 3M™ 501 holder
When to choose
The 3M 6059 (ABEK1) filter is the optimal choice where the gas mixture composition includes several classes of threats: organics + acid gases + ammonia. Indispensable on ammonia refrigeration units, in fertilizer production, and in chemical laboratories with a wide range of reagents. For a full RPE kit, add 3M™ 5935 (P3) pre-filters via the 3M™ 501 holder.
When NOT to choose
If the work is conducted strictly with organic vapors without acid gases and ammonia, use the economical 3M 6051 (A1): its resource is consumed more slowly in a 'pure' organic environment. The 6059 does not provide protection against carbon monoxide (CO) and mercury vapors — for those, an isolating RPE is required.
How it differs from other filters
The 3M 6059 is the only one in the line with four classes of gas protection: A, B, E, and K (ammonia). The 3M 6051 is only A, while the 3M 6057 is ABE. The carbon in the 6059 is impregnated with reagents for ammonia adsorption, which physically distinguishes it from the 6051 and 6057. The housing and bayonet are identical across the 6051/6057/6059 line.
